I replaced the vanos seals as they where leaking. Without warning the car cut out whilst driving. I have tested the sensor and it worked fine,and i even swapped it with intake one and the problem still persist. It is hard to tell from the video what the noise actually sounds like. So heres my update i ordered the new Vanos solenoids and i replaced them as shown in your instructions it was very easy. I would start by checking the vehicle for fault codes. Just trying to figure out the rough idle I have been having. I would suggest not cleaning a mass air flow sensor. It may be too late. Test drove and everything is fine. If it moves, mechanical timing is likely off. My suggestion is if you have determined you need a VANOS solenoid by cleaning or swapping side to side, replace both solenoids. Thanks, I don't think so. Thank you, Some of those fault can be catalytic converter faults. They can figure out what part or repair kit you need. VANOS solenoid, O-ring, VANOS solenoid fastener. Both Vanos solenoid are very clean. I never did changed the timing chain components before. Try installing the camshaft and crankshaft timing tools and see if the engine is out of time. Remove engine covers. You can try the engine oil treatments here: https://www.atscarbonclean.com/ They have been working great at unjamming and cleaning VANOS systems. Warm soapy water or non-chlorinated brake cleaner. if it is a rough idle, it could be a misfire or improper engine timing. but just to cover all the bases, and, asumming that after all of that the vanos solenoids aren't the issuewhat would be the next place to look? It is worth removing and cleaning the solenoids. Sounds like an engine misfire. Once you are sure there are none, check operation of the air/fuel ratio sensors.
